RAY WYLIE HUBBARD. In 1979 or there about, I got a phone call from Ray Wylie. He had just bought a bus, a well-used GMC 4106, that had been used as a tourist bus in the Boston area. Ray knew I had truck-driving experience, so he asked me if I could teach him how to drive it. I did, and over the next 20 years I traveled over a million miles in tour buses. I drove for a lot of different bands, and never once did I apply for a job, they always called me. I didn’t really want to drive all that much, but being a struggling musician myself, when the money was too good to turn down… |

I traveled with Jazz Legend,
MAYNARD FERGUSON, one of the finest trumpet players in
the world, and his band from 1987 - '91. I have hundreds of pictures from
that time and will be posting them for some time to come. The Boss, as
everyone who worked for Maynard called him, was born May 4, 1928 and
passed away 23 August, 2006. He started touring as a child, and did so
until his death. Rest in peace, my friend. |

BACKSTAGE PASSES - Backstage passes come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and designs; some are
laminated, some are stick-ons, and some are worn on a lanyard around your
neck. There is a pecking order to passes: On Stage; Backstage Dressing
Room; Backstage Meet-and-Greet area; Free Pass to the Show. There is no
pass to get on the bus; that's by invitation only. |
